Solar Village SDG: A Year in Review

Oxford City Walkabout

November 2, 2025 | Oxford, UK

A sponsored walk around the historic city of Oxford.

We invited teams of walkers to join us for an exciting fundraiser that took in many of Oxford’s beautiful landmarks. The walk lasted over two hours. The day concluded with a social event that included a pub quiz, an Oxford City/Sri Lanka-themed art sale, and a raffle, during which we enjoyed lunch and refreshments together.

We welcomed teams of walkers from businesses (professional and retail companies), alumni of past pupil associations, professional associations, university student groups, and circles of friends or family. This created a multiplier effect, as each team member reached out to their own contacts for sponsorship.

We raised £9000+ funds for two solar villages and two smart rooms in village schools in rural Sri Lanka, providing solar power solutions and promoting sustainable development.
